In the fall of 2012, I was the student-intern for The Journal of East Tennessee History. This internship required I work closely with the editor, Dr. Aaron Purcell, Director of Special Collections at Virginia Tech. My duties as an intern included: reviewing submissions, copyediting, photo selection, photo-captioning, background research, and to publish a research note on Oliver Perry Temple, a leading businessman in Knoxville during the Reconstruction Era, and his 1869 address to the Knoxville Industrial Agency.
